Balcony

Spring has finally arrived after what seems like the longest of winters. It's time to slowly start living outdoors as much as possible. For people who live in the cities and without a garden a balcony can be the haven needed to enjoy the seasons to the fullest extent. You don't need a lot of room to make an amazing space outside on a balcony. Lots of green plants, herbs and flowers and somewhere comfortable to sit and you are ready set go. Here are some photos that inspired me.

Filippa K

I am totally in love with this apartment which is for sale. It belongs to the woman behind the iconic fashion brand Filippa K. Her style is flawless yet personal and everything is stunningly put together like her fashion collections always are.

If money is no issue then here is the link to the estate agent:)

Ikea Ads

IKEA is starting to sell outdoor furniture even though it's still winter because that's how Swedish and all Scandinavian people work. Even though it's snow and cold outside, if there is just a little bit of sunshine, we sit on the balcony or in the garden and pretend spring has arrived and summer is surely just around the corner:) I love the way IKEA has captured that in their ads.

rustic dining

Sometimes I get a little bored with the look I am always attracted to which is the clean cool polished scandinavian look. Today I was inspired by a more rough and rustic look and feel to a dining room. Feel free to be inspired like I was.

Plants

Plants! They are such a wonderful way to bring life and color into your home and an added bonus is that it’s really good for you. Most plants clean the air so what better reason do you need to buy some beautiful plants and place them wherever you like. I won’t pester you with lots of decorating rules about what is correct and not I will just say please people NO crawling plants that you can swirl around a bookcase or other furniture –keep them trimmed and neat looking. Also make sure to clean them. Plants need to be dusted off like the rest of your furniture both because it looks the best but also because plants can’t thrive with a layer of dust on them:) A little inspiration...

Mint

Im not very good at using pastel colors in my own home but I love the color palette and use it a little in my summerhouse. I do however think that mint is a fantastic color to use with grey, white and black interiors and instantly creates a fresh spring mood. You don’t need to use many objects in mint. A simple chair f.eks can create a fantastic effect. Here’s a little inspiration.

Grey

Grey was one of the hottest colors of 2012 and I am thankful to see it continue as a strong trend for 2013. Grey is one of my absolut favorit colors. Every nuance of grey is wonderful. It creates a calm and harmonious space and can be combined with pretty much every other color you can think if so it works for everyone. Go all in or use it as an accent color on the walls or in your accessories. Here’s a little inspiration on this “grey” wednesday.

Stilleben

Inspired by my post last week about removing the christmas decoration and also taking a fresh look at where things are placed in your home, I want to inspire you to try and create new stilleben’s around your home. In my opinion it is the best way to personalize your home and make an interesting space. There are rules to Stilleben’s but forget that and just start and see what you like the best. It is your home after all.

New Beginnings

Happy New Year. Its the beginning of a new year and at our home it means that al the christmas decorations are packed away and I always use that opportunity to clear away even more things. It's a chance to look at my home with fresh eyes:  When things are brought back to basic it makes us think of new ways to put things back. What should be put in a new place - what was already perfect as it was.  January can be such a dark month but buy some tulips and put in a pretty vase and you can find true beauty in the simplest of things. I have found some pictures to inspire you - it's simple and minimalist homes. Not because you need to make your home look like this but to make you see things in a new light perhaps.

Sheepskin, Lambskin, Reindeer skin

Sheepskin, Lambskin, reindeerskin all types of skin are amazing to use in your interior all year round but especially in Winter it adds a very special touch. It adds warmth and cosiness and creates a feeling of softness in an otherwise clean and minimalist interior style. Use it in any room on chairs, sofa’s or the floor.
